Thoughts Too Large to Post Elsewhere |
Whenever my thoughts run over the character limit of on other sites, I need a place for them to go. What better place than Tumblr? |
Thank you for clicking the link to see what I have to offer in a Nokia E71. There isn’t enough space in the Amazon listing for me to tell you all the cool features that you get with the purchase of my Nokia E71. As you can see, you aren’t just getting a phone. You are getting a whole package for one low price:
The Phone
The Nokia E71 is in 9.5/10 condition. The battery still holds a full charge. There are no dust flecks under the screen. The keys are pristine. And I have attempted to remove as many fingerprints as possible from the metallic casing. However, the case does keep fingerprints, which leads me to …
The Silicone Case
You will also be getting a pitch-black silicone case for the Nokia E71. It is already installed on the phone and will help keep you from adding any further fingerprints to the metallic bits of the phone. It also offers a fantastic “Oops, I just dropped my phone!” guard, allowing the phone to bounce along the ground and not break or scratch. It is due to this case that the phone is in as amazing condition as it already is. Further, the case allows you to place the phone on your car’s dashboard and then the phone will not slip or slide. I recommend you keep the case on the phone, but of course you are able to easily remove it.
The Factory Case
[photo]
The Nokia E71 did come with a velvety-lined case when it arrived from the Nokia factory. While you cannot use this case and the silicone case at the same time, I am including it so that you have all of your options.
A Polishing Cloth
[photo]
This Nokia E71 comes with a small glass cleaning cloth to keep the screen in pristine condition.
The Original Wrist Strap
[photo]
The Nokia E71 comes with the factory original wrist strap. There is a better strap already installed on the phone. More about that …
A Smartcable
A Smartcable is a wrist strap that can detach from the phone. When it does so, it has a USB end and a charging port end. This allows you to always have a charger on the phone, so that you can recharge from any available USB port. It also has a built in TFlash/MicroSD card reader, so you can pop the memory card out of the phone and add or subtract files from that same USB port, all while charging your phone. Oh, and it functions beautifully as a wrist strap as well.
A Wall Charger
Of course, the Smartcable isn’t the only way for you to charge your phone. You will receive the more traditional wall charger as well.
Earbuds
[photo]
You will also be receiving the original set of earbuds that came with the phone. These have a 2.5 mm audio jack and a built in microphone so that you can make phone calls or tune in radio stations. As an additional precaution, I have swabbed the earbuds down with alcohol.
A Hands-free Car Single Earbud
[photo]
This is a single earbud that plugs in to the 2.5 mm audio jack on the Nokia E71. It has a button built right in to the earpiece to answer or hang-up the phone, as well as a built-in microphone so that you can have phone conversations. It also will tune in the radio. As an additional precaution, the earbud has been swabbed down with alcohol.
2.5 mm Headset to Computer Converter
[photo]
This is a cable that allows you to attach your phone headset - either of the ones listed above - and connect to a normal computer to use it as a headset on the computer. It has the standard computer headphone plug as well as the standard computer microphone plug, while using a Nokia-compatible headset as the input.
A Small Regular-Earbud Converter
[photo]
In case you wish to hook the phone up to your car’s AUX port, or perhaps use regular earbuds to listen to music, I am including a small, solid piece converter that will change the 2.5 mm audio jack into a 3.5 mm jack; what regular music things require. This converter doesn’t have a microphone built in, so when you plug it in and the phone asks what it is, please select, “Headphones.” As such, you cannot use it to make hands-free calls. For that …
A Long Regular-Earbud Converter
[photo]
This is another 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm audio jack converter, but this one comes with a built in microphone. That means that you can use it with your favorite earbuds to make phone calls. It has a built in button near the microphone which allows you to pick-up or hang-up the phone. It also is a rather lengthy cord, which can add some reach for those wanting to plug in to the AUX jack from the back seat of the car.
Preloaded: Gizmo5
The Nokia E71 will arrive, preloaded with the Gizmo5 app. This app is hard to find now-a-days. If you have a Gizmo5 account, it will enable you to receive SIP or GoogleVoice calls directly to the phone, so long as you have a data connection.
Preloaded: Gmail
The Nokia E71 will arrive, preloaded with the Gmail app. This app is no longer available from Google. It will allow you to read and respond to your Gmail email, but so will the built in Nokia Messaging feature. What this app will do that the built in Nokia Messaging feature will not do is to archive your emails. If you don’t want it, it is easy to delete. I hope you find it useful.
Preloaded: MobiReader
The Nokia E71 will arrive, preloaded with the MobiReader app. This app is an eReader application that will enable you to read ebooks on your phone. So long as the ebooks are in .mobi or .prc format, they can be either directly loaded on the phone or placed on your TFlash (aka MicroSD) card. This app comes with two books already in it, but are easy to delete from the options menu. For what it is worth, .mobi format ebooks are also compatible with the Amazon Kindle.
Preloaded: Opera Mini
Opera Mini is an alternative web browser to the one that is standard on the Nokia E71. It is especially useful if you are using paygo data or have to keep your data usage under a certain amount, as it loads significantly less-data-intense versions of each website.
Preloaded: Pure Black Theme
This theme is sold for $1.99 in the Ovi store, Nokia’s version of an app store. It is a theme that is as it says: pure black.
Preloaded: Pure White Theme
This theme is sold for $1.99 in the Ovi store, Nokia’s version of an app store. It is a theme that is as it says: pure white.
Preloaded: Skyfire
Skyfire is another alternative web browser. This one is a bit of a data hog. What it offers, that no other browser for the Nokia E71 does, is the ability to view certain flash website content. For example, you can watch your Amazon On Demand movies and television shows right from Skyfire/the Nokia E71. It does not, however, work with either Netflix or Hulu. But Amazon On Demand is better than not having Amazon On Demand, right?
Nokia Data Cable
[photo]
Finally, the Nokia E71 comes with the factory original data cable to enable you to hook the phone up to your computer in order to sync or whatnot. Nokia E71s do not charge through this USB cable, so I have found it to be of limited use. Enjoy!
Thank you for taking the time to read through this entire list of the complete package you receive when purchasing the Nokia E71 phone from me. I hope that, while I am not the cheapest phone listed, you will find that the near-pristine condition and additional package contents are worth the extra money.
